Vista Ready?I just ran the Vista upgrade advisor and it says the following might have
issues: Microsoft SQL Server Setup Support Files (English) Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express Both are for SQL Server 2005. Are there patches available? Sp2 of SQL Server 2005 supports Vista. I haven't tried it with Vista, though...

on Vista. FWIW, I have two Vista machines: (a) an upgrade to Ultimate from XP Pro (b) a clean install On (a) I could never get SQL Server dev edition or even the client tools to install. On (b) it worked no problem. I got warnings about incompatibility when installing SQL Server but I didn't bother trying to start the service until after I installed SP2. I In addition to SQL Server, I had issues with IIS and Windows Live OneCare on > *thought* MS apps wouldn't be my main issue. ....... sigh the XP machine I upgraded. The only non-Microsoft problem I had was with nvidia drivers causing so many blue screens and inexplicable black screens / power downs that the machine is unusable. Of course, nvidia blames that on Microsoft, too. A And just to give a different perspective, I did an upgrade from XP media
center to Vista Ultimate with pretty much no problems. SQL 2005 worked fine but the client tools required patching to SP2. I have an ATI graphics card that has gotten pretty good support from both Dell and ATI. It took me a while to figure out how to get Trillian to stop breaking Aqua (bsp, bsp, bsp, bsp) Aero, but things have been pretty stable. Only issue I have is with Offline files not working quite up to par, but I think that may be due to a server issue, not a Vista issue. -- Show quoteGeoff N.
