Fickle Import Performance Data... for profiler 2005

Hello,

I'm doing a client side trace using profiler 2005.  Concurrently I'm
collecting sysmon logs stored to csv file, from the same client workstation.
The client workstation runs the SQL Server Management Studio client utility,
and Perfmon.  The server I'm collecting data from runs SQL Server 2000 sp4,
WIN2K3 sp1.

After I collect all trace data, sometimes I am able to open the trace file
and then Import Performance Data...  Sometimes the Import Performance Data...
option is greyed out (non-selectable).  What are the full set of conditions
by which this option is available?

thanks.

John,

Just an idea: Is the trace still running on the instance where the option is
greyed out? If so, SQL Server may be causing the option to be greyed out.

Actually I found the answer on microsoft technet link:  I changed all
applicable events to collect both start time and end time, and this satisfied
the requirements.

Thanks.
