SQL Tools install problemI have SQL 2005 64bit edition and I can't get the SQL tools ie SQL
Server Management Studio installed on my 32bit XP workstation. All of the setups say not a valid 32 bit application or they say they don't run on my processor. (Pent D 2.8) Anyone had success getting SQL Management Studio to install on a 32bit workstation from the 64bit DVD? I'd be surprised if the 32bit version wasn't on the DVD somewhere... though
I don't have one here to check. <griffon***@gmail.com> wrote in message Show quote news:1168289727.966940.295800@i15g2000cwa.googlegroups.com... >I have SQL 2005 64bit edition and I can't get the SQL tools ie SQL > Server Management Studio installed on my 32bit XP workstation. A Runtime error has occurred. Do you wish to Debug? Line: 214 Error: %1 is not a valid Win32 application. I'm not sure which msi on the CD is for the Management studio, but so far my guesses haven't been correct. In other words, you don't necessarily have to rely on the autorun feature at all. Alternatives if you can't find a 32-bit tools folder on the DVD or CD: (a) contact Microsoft for a 32-bit version. (b) buy developer edition ($49). I tried poking around for the tools install, unfortunately everything
is in 1 folder called Setup. On CD 2 I found SqlRun_tools.msi, which when i run seems to do nothing for a while, I check task manager and explorer.exe shoots up to 500+ MB of RAM, than i get "This installation package is not support by this processor type. Contact your product Vendor." as an error. I randomly picked other install packages on the CD and they failed the same way. Oddly I can confirm on the server that SSMS runs in 32 bit mode...just wish someone knew how to install it on a workstation. Hi,
Did you ever find out how to install the tools on the XP workstation? Looking for an answer to this as well. Please advise.
