Status / State of Services in SQL Server 2005 Management StudioIf I login with my id that has sysadmin priveleges (but no server
priveleges), I cannot see the status / state of servers / services (red / green) in SQL Server Management Studio. If I login using an account that has server administrator priveleges, I can see the server status in the Management Studio. Believe maybe this is due to permissions accessing WMI? What is the minimum priveleges or permissions that I need on the server to be able to view SQL Server services state in SQL Server Management Studio? Is this documented anywhere for SQL Server 2005? My account cannot be an administrator on the server. Steve,
I have seen the same. In W2K3 SP1 SQL2000 SEM quit in the same way. It used SCManager to query the status and this was stopped unless you were a local admin on the server. We had to change the permissions to SCManager to get this to work. I am a DBA but my Windows account is not allowed to be an admin on the server. I do believe that WMI is supposed to be the instrument that is used.
