Compare and Scripting Tools

Hi,

We're currently in market for a tool that will allow us to compare and
create a script that will synchronize two databases.  I've evaluated
several options (DBGhost, Red-Gate, ApexSQL, SQL Delta) and was hoping
to get some feedback from the forum.  Has anyone used any of these?

Thanks!

I have used Red-Gate and I am happy with it.  I seem to remember playing
with Apex a long time ago.  I have heard of DBGhost, but I have not had the
opportunity to play with it.  I have not heard of SQL Delta.

I don't think you can go wrong with Red-Gate's SQL Compare. There are very
few software development tools that I will remember fondly after I retire
but SQL Compare will be one of them. It is fantastic (and I don't work for
them :)).

I've used Reg-Gate and ApexSQL. I always thought the UI on Red-Gate had a
few annonying quirks, but it did an excellent job. However, I needed SQL2005
suppport, so took another look at ApexSQL. Their new version is leaps and
bounds ahead of Red-Gate (IMHO). I didn't find anything not to like, so in
my mind they won out hands down over Red-Gate, and I ended up buying their
product.

Keep in mind this is a personal preference and both sets of tools do
basically the same job. Pick the one you like best.
