Licensing and Installation of Client Tools Only for MSSQL 2000Does each workstation installation of the Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Standard
Edition "client tools," i.e. Enterprise Manager, Query Analyzer, Profiler, require a separate CAL/license, etc.? This is strictly for administrative purposes only -- we want to install the "client tools" on the workstations of database administrators who serve as emergency backup for the senior Microsoft DBA in case of his absence. Thank you in advance for a definitive response that I can forward to our license compliance unit. gpzucker wrote:

If you're CPU licensed, then you should be OK. All licensing questions should be directed to Microsoft for clarification. http://www.microsoft.com/licensing/default.mspx -- David Gugick Quest Software David~
Thank you for your response. I have taken your advice and put in a request for clarification with Microsoft. I will post their "official" response. G.
