unable to create new pagesI posted earlier on this and I am still having a problem. I loaded
FP2000 on my computer with xp -- I am able to pull up my pages with edit with microsoft FP - I am able to edit pages. However, when I go to page and press new - and when I am ready to save - it will not allow me to do so. I would appreciate any help? You must be prompted to login in order to be able to save changes, etc. This requires the
live/remote server have the FP extensions installed, are they? -- ============================================== Thomas A. I would appreciate any help?- Hide quoted text - > > - Show quoted text - able to edit front page from the menu while the site is in the browser. It allows me to edit and save existing pages. However, this is what happens. I open up from the browser by clicking on edit with fp and I login and everything is fine. I open up a new page put in my information and then save as -- it opens up the window where the files are shown and then states an unexpected error occured not enough memory I hit ok and then a MSFP message comes on and says an error occured and closes out including the webpage. I have tried this on another page with another provider and extensions are installed. Last night it let me save one new page- and after that the same error comes up. I dont think there is a memory problem as I closed out all other pages - and the computer is fairly new xp with very little space taken up. I know I have not downloaded the pages to my computer or a disk. I have just relied on the files being with the provider and their backups if something happens. thans for you input. I am thinking maybe 2000 is not compatable with xp--- however, I am able to edit existing pages with no problem. Nick Ok, then you really should open the site directly in FP via File Menu | Open Web / Site and work on
it that way. -- ============================================== Thomas A. I checked with my web provider--- they are no longer going to support FP2000 or any FP--- however, they did reinstall all the extensions--- but same problem. I am going to purchase 2003-- any ideas where I can obtain it at a reasonable price. Thanks Again Nick FrontPage has been replaced by Expression Web and SharePoint Designer.
Expression Web is aimed at standards compliant web sites, and has limited support for FrontPage components. SharePoint Designer is aimed at SharePoint websites, but has more support for FrontPage Components. Neither program has any support for VML graphics (WordArt, ShapeArt, TextBoxes and objects created using the Drawing toolbar). A trial for Expression Web is available from http://www.microsoft.com/expression/products/download.aspx?key=web IMPORTANT: Do not forget the product key obtainable from a link on that page. Expression Web is available as an "upgrade" (EW is really a replacement, not an upgrade) for about US$90 from Amazon.com Amazon may still have copies of FP2003 in stock (this was discontinued a year ago), but the most likely place to get a copy is Ebay, with all the risks involved. -- Ron Symonds - Microsoft MVP (FrontPage) Reply only to group - emails will be deleted unread. http://www.rxs-enterprises.org/fp Show quote "nickcrow***@gmail.com" <nickcrow***@gmail.com> wrote in message news:67bba65a-0cf3-4951-9cdf-9b76404a863e@d21g2000prf.googlegroups.com: > On Nov 13, 6:42 am, "Thomas A. I would appreciate any help?- Hide quoted text - > > - Show quoted text - I checked with my host company and extensions are installed for FP 2000 - I dont have any idea what is wrong-- I dont think it is with the host company - as I have another website with another host and the same things happens. I am able to go to page icon in xp click and then click where it says edit with MS front page - this pulls up the window asking for my log on and password= this works and allows me to view all my web pages ect. again- I am able to modify any page and save it - and it shows on the web. However, if I create a new page within the web and hit save= a microsoft message comes on saying there is a problem and it exits me out of front page ---- I am at wits end as to what action to take to get this fixed. I have removed the program and reinstall and have the same problem. Thank You NIck Crowder Try opening the site directly in FP via File Menu | Open Web and http://www.yourdomainname.com, then
your login info, then click Ok, then click Open and see if you then able to create and save a file.
