cannot install sp1 for 1.1

(tried windowsupdate ng with no answers!)

I need to have both .net 1.1 and 2 installed , which is no problem, but
cannot get sp1 for 1.1 to install. I just get 'error code 0xC1' each time,
and running the setup from commandline silently fails, not even writing an
error log.

any help would be appreciated!
