Start of installed ClickOnce-Application sometime causes reinstallHello ng,
we have some strange behavior with our clickonce-applications. The applications were installed successfully. We can start it after installation without problems. But sometimes all installed apps on the client are away. The Shortcuts are in the startmenu but the specific icons are away and when we click on this, the application has to be installed again (we have no new version published). In "Add Remove Programs" all applications are still listed. This behavior affects all users but not at the same time. Our Webserver is a failover-clustered server. First we thought it could be happend when the server does a failover but the applications dissapear at odd times without relation to a failover. What can we do to solve this problem? Hi,
I will give this issue a reseach and get back to you ASAP. Thanks. Hi,
Sorry for letting you wait. This sounds like the cached files in the store are being removed from the machine somehow. Are they doing any kind of profile cleanup on the machine? After performing somr research, I found one similar bug in the internal database. There's a hotfix that addresses loss of store information, available at: "FIX: Message when you try to start a ClickOnce program in the .NET Framework 2.0: "Do you want to install this application?"" http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922935/en-us It's hard to tell without further information on whether issue below is the same one addressed by hotfix. I would recommend you pick up hotfix and check if it still repros. Hope this helps. Hi,
thanks for your response, I viewed the kb-article. It describes symtoms, that every time you click on the Application it causes reinstall but in our case, it sometimes causes reinstall (it works one, two or three weeks perfectly but then you have to reinstall all applications on the client). I found out, that in C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\UserID\Lokale Einstellungen\Apps\2.0\ there are some folders with names like 454LEC78.53G In these folders there are files from click-once installations. In the newest (Folder-ModifyTime) folder there are only the applications, that I reinstalled since the last "installation-forget-point". When I (re)install an application, its added into this folder. It looks like click-once creates sometimes a new folder and uses this instead of the old folders. I currently have ten folders (+ the data-Folder) in Apps\2.0 with dates from 11/09/2006 to 03/07/2007 I will try out the hotfix and post my experience Hi,
Ok, please feel free to give the hotfix a try and let me know the result, thanks.
