Open a file using the default program for a different file extension

Hello,

I was wondering if there is an easy method to opening a file with the
default program for a different file extension. For example, we are
building an XML log file - for specific reasons it is not well formed
during the logging process, so when we attempt to open using the
default .xml viewer it will error out in IE for containing XML that is
not valid.

We need to open our .xml logs with the .txt default program. Is there
anyway outside of looking into the registry to fire this off?

Thanks!

Keep press the Shift while you right click on the .xml file and select Open
with..., then select the right program and check the Always use this program.
