is it possible to draw on the desktop (like a "dynamic" wallpaper)?
I'd like to add system informations and custom enterprise data.

It is possible, since desktop is a window too.

But, wouldn't it be simpler to create your own ( maybe even owner draw )
window. And simulate as if it was the destop itself,
maybe tweaking z-order or smth like this?

Not only it would be simple, but this way it will also redraw when it gets
dirty! ;-)
