retrieve system informations from a remote computer

Hello

I want to retrieve system informations (registry informations, all logical
disks/capacity....) from a remote computer. I have tried WMI to accomplish
that task. It works, but it is totally slow (many minutes) and can't be used
for a web application where response time is crucial. Is there any way to
access these system informations from a local/remote computer? I need to
retrieve informations from NT4, W2k, W2k3 servers. Many thanks in advance.
