Problems installing .NET Framework on WinXP Pro boxas the application is launched, they receive an error (application failed to initialize). After a few tests it was determined that all .NET applications fail with the same error. I asked them to reinstall the Frameworks. They uninstalled the Frameworks (1.1 sp1) successfully via Add/Remove. When they attempted to reinstall, they got the error message "Failed to register system.enterpriseservice.dll, rolling back..." They are running WinXP Pro (v5.1.2600) and if it matters, IIS is not installed. It appears as if the uninstall truly worked. The Microsoft.NET folder is empty, mscoree.dll is not present in the System folder and the registry looks clean. Here is what we have tried already: - turned off Virus checking tools prior to install - double checked the Language settings - disabled MSDTC service - downloaded and ran the cleanup tool - reregistered the MS Installer - rebooted multiple times... I'm at a loss as to what to try next. Please advise. Thanks. Hi Mike,
>They uninstalled the Frameworks (1.1 sp1) successfully This installation error could be caused by several different problems, >via Add/Remove. When they attempted to reinstall, they >got the error message "Failed to register >system.enterpriseservice.dll, rolling back..." without the detailed installation log I am afraid we could not to isolate this problem only from the above error message. But I suggest you can try the following simple workaround for a test, change the target machine's DEP setting to AlwaysOff: 1.Click Start -> Run -> control sysdm.cpl 2.Click Advanced -> Performance -> Settings-> Data Exceution Prevention A) Click Advanced->startup and recovery ->settings->edit B) Changed the option /NoExecute=Optin to /NoExecute=AlwaysOff in Boot.ini and save the file C) Restart Wish this helps!
