What are the main changes do ADO.NET if any?

None. .Net 3.0 is just .Net 2.0 + some extensions for new stuff like WPF,
WCF, and WF.

ADO.Net vNext which will be part of .Net 3.5 will have some amazing new
features:

LINQ
XLINQ
DLINQ

The new language features in .Net 2.0 and 3.0 support the ADO.Net
structures.
