Oracle FGAC and .NETA client of mine wishes to migrate their Oracle forms client applications
(UI-business tier) to the .NET Framework 2.0 and Windows Forms while maintaining their Oracle datastore. They are currently on 8.1.7.4 but will be migrating to 10g in the foreseeable future, they say. Their applications currently employ persistent database connections (no pooling) and Oracle Fine Grained Access Control (FGAC) policies for authorization down to a row level. Moving forward they wish to keep using FGAC but wonder if it's possible to create a suitable Oracle credential through the .NET Framework such that FGAC can be properly utilized. The documentation I have viewed at both MS and Oracle (ODP.NET) indicates that it may be possible, but I am hoping someone in this group will have a definite "YES, it can be done" answer and perhaps point me to a best practices doc, which I have yet to find.
