The Profit Motive Meets Capital Punishment

With the increasing popularity of reality shows and more people that live
vicariously through their TV's, I've been amazed that we haven't started
Pay-Per-Viewing executions yet.  At some point I think it will happen.
Death Penalty advocates (not unlike some we've heard here) will bemoan that
we are using tax payer dollars to pay for 'these scum' and that at least if
we raised money through televising their executions, it would be a mechanism
for them to help pay back society for what they've done.

While the subject of "should we be allowed to sell our organs" is a complex
one, one thing I'm certain of is that putting a profit motive behind capital
punishment is not a good things.

Some would argue, as was the case in this article, that the executed people
have an opportunity to pay back society, but at a minimum the money should
go to the people's family and they should have a say over whether or not
those organs are donated, don't you think?

At least I didn't post the email to my ex-girlfriend like that other guy
did.  Did you see that? Where he told his ex-girlfriend that he was getting
married and that she only had a few months to take advantage of it?  It was
in the ASP.NET Group.  It's gotta be rough having your attempt to cheat on
your fiance' immortalized in google.  At least I just look like a dork that
can't use Outlook Express now ;-)
