Has anyone heard of an actual ship date. I know the subscriptions are
available but I am looking for the boxed version. Does anyone find it
strange that MS anounced the release date of 11/7/05 months ago and they
still aren't shipping the product. I just got an email stating the VS 2005
Developer 90 day trail will ship on 12/27/05. Maybe they should have called
it VS 2006.

VS 2005 was available at retail outlets by the end of the week of November
7th, per the advertised release announcement "the week of November 7th".You
can find it on Amazon.com and at Programmers Paradise, to name a couple of
places. Visual Studio is not the type of general audience product you'll
find at places like Best Buy. FWIW, I know for a fact that Programmers
Paradise was selling VS 2005 Pro in the Box as of November 10, 2005 because
I have an acquaintance who ordered it on that date and took delivery on
November 14th.

Sorry but you're wrong. None ot the retailers you mentioned have delivered a
boxed version of VS 2005 to date. Go check out the websites and you'll find
delivery 4-5 + weeks. Most don't expect delivery until late December. I
received an email today from MS stating the delivery date has been changed
to 12/27/05. Check with your friend and see if he didn't order the
subscription?

I tried the two sites I know of...

Programmers Paradise (www.programmersparadise.com) has VS 2005 Pro / MSDN
on their site, I added it to a shopping cart, and it let me continue with
the checkout.  No mention of any delay.

Component Source (www.componentsource.com) has Visual Studio 2005 listed,
but in red lettering they have a note, that they won't ship until Dec
14th.

Perhaps others who know of other dev tool vendors can check as well.
