We have a production server that hosts numerous ASP.NET 1.1 web
applications, as well as several ASP applications.  It currently has MDAC
2.6 installed.  A new product we are installing requires MDAC 2.7 or higher.

My gut tells me that installing MDAC 2.8 will not under any circumstances
impact legacy applications negatively, but I thought I should ask if there
are any exceptions.

Thanks in advance.

Each new version of the MDAC stack has had some side-effects. Some broke
applications, some did not. I strongly encourage you to test with 2.8.
Remember that this is a common DLL that many applications must share. When
testing you have to measure the impact on these as well.
