Publishing questionWhen I publish a website for the first time, FP asks for the destination to which to publish and I enter http://domain.com. FP then asks for user ID and password, I enter that information, and publish away. I installed a new computer a couple of days ago and have not been able to publish to two of my sites. One of them is a problem with their server. The other one, however, was a different story. I tried and tried to publish to one site and could not get it to recognize my password. Then, out of desperation, I told FP that the publishing destination was http://www.domain.com and it published without a hitch. All my other sites publish to http://domain.com (without the www) -- what's the difference -- or does it matter? Thanks. You should always use the www in your domain name when connecting to your site w/ the FP SE

One installation of frontpage should behave identically to another when accessing the same site, no? "Karl E. Peterson" <k***@mvps.org> wrote in message news:eRZBHMafJHA.5244@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... The answer lies in DNS entry for the website. Usually, the first step is to
add domain.com to DNS and then www.domain.com is added (both pointing to the same IP address). Next, IIS or other web-server is configured to host the website using both of these DNS entries. Sometimes, IIS can be configured to host the website with just www.domain.com as host header, and in this case, trying to publish with http://domain.com will fail miserably. I hope that answers your query.
