Really screwy password problemlate last night and anticipate an answer today, meanwhile, is it possible that FP is causing this problem? I maintain five websites on two different host servers. HOST A: website 1, 2, 3 HOST B: Website 4, 5 I purchased a new computer, installed it Tuesday. I copied my websites from my old computer's hard drive to an external HD, then, when the new computer was running, I installed FP 2003 from the original CD and copied the websites from the external HD to the new computer's HD. I then made minor editorial changes to each website and tried to publish. In the case of each of the five websites, when I hit the Publish button, I got the usual pop-up into which I entered the publishing destination, http://website.com. FP then came back and asked for user ID and password. I entered the user ID and password that I have written down in my documentation. In the case of websites 1 and 2, the changed pages published without a hitch. In the case of websites 3, 4, and 5, I cannot get past the user ID and password because FP tells me the server is not accepting my password. However, in the case of each website, I can access the control panel. For websites 3, 4, and 5, I went to the control panels and changed the passwords. Tried to publish again with new passwords, nothing doing. As I said at the outset, I suspect a problem with the host server but thought I'd ask if there's a possibility that FP is causing the problem. Reinstall / repair the FrontPage extensions using the control panel.

On the other server I'm having problems -- cannot uninstall, cannot cleanup, cannot reinstall and their tech support seems to be a class of second graders. I think I will dump this host and find someone else to host my sites. I have had sites hosted with this company for five years, then, about four months ago they changed their name and owners and since then it's been nothing but trouble. I need a host that support FP extensions AND that supports the FP search function. I was very impressed. We went with their .NET Advanced ($26.95 monthly) plan - it includes Microsoft Index Server. -- ~ Kathleen Anderson Microsoft MVP - FrontPage Spider Web Woman Designs Expression Web Resources: http://www.spiderwebwoman.com/xweb/ Expression Web Wiki: http://expression-web-wiki.com/ FrontPage Resources: http://www.spiderwebwoman.com/resources/ Please reply to the newsgroup for the benefit of others Using windows explorer, navigate to the folder containing your website. will solve the problem. To Kickin' Ass & Takin' Names - what you should have done after the new computer was set up was to publish your live sites from your host server down to the new PC - you should always Publish, not copy. -- Show quoteHide quote~ Kathleen Anderson Microsoft MVP - FrontPage Spider Web Woman Designs Expression Web Resources: http://www.spiderwebwoman.com/xweb/ Expression Web Wiki: http://expression-web-wiki.com/ FrontPage Resources: http://www.spiderwebwoman.com/resources/ Please reply to the newsgroup for the benefit of others "Somesh" <somesh.***@nic.in> wrote in message news:OvYHtpKfJHA.3712@TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl... > Using windows explorer, navigate to the folder containing your website. > Now remove all hidden files or folders including > file/folder names beginning with an underscore. question can also be quite complex in structure. Leave those alone. In the OP's case the problem lies with the SERVER, not with the local web. Reinstalling the extensions should fix it, or running a Server Health Check on the server (ask the host). -- Show quoteHide quoteRon Symonds - Microsoft MVP (Expression) Reply only to group - emails will be deleted unread. http://www.rxs-enterprises.org/fp "Somesh" <somesh.***@nic.in> wrote in message news:eKGEyCXfJHA.500@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... > Sorry about my previous answer!
