MAPI and Outlook Anywhere

We have an application that is a MAPI client.  One of our customers is
enquiring about using it in an "Outlook Anywhere" environment, which as I
understand it, is a way for Outlook to connect to an Exchange server over
HTTP.

I believe Outlook itself uses MAPI to retrieve/set mail information, so can
I assume that
no changes would be needed to our application?  Or is there some other API
that I never
heard of that replaces MAPI?

Outlook Anywhere encapsulates MAPI RPC in HTTPS packets.  It used to be
called RPC-over-HTTPS.  Whether you need to configure anything depends on
your version of Exchange.

We could be talking about any version of Exchange.  What might I need
to configure?  Or can I assume that if our customer gets Outlook to work
over ROH, our MAPI application will go along for the ride, i.e. we would
not have to do anything programming-wise to the MAPI code?

Please refer to the Exchange documentation for your version of Exchange.

I am enquiring on behalf of a customer who has all versions of Exchange,
going back to 5.5.  I was hoping to get some answers on this forum
beyond "read the manual", but if that is the best you can do, so be it.

I'm happy to try to help you with questions you might have but I'm not in a
position to write a treatise about how things work, sorry.
