After doing this, did all of the exchange services start?  Can you start
them, in particular the message (information) store.  If it starts and
the databases are in the correct location you are good to go.  If not,
refer to the application log.

Thnx 4 replying ....
I tell U in detail .....
First I fresh intsalled 2K Server, then I build Active Drirector, then I
installed Exchange 5.5.
After that I check exchange from my workstation .. it working fine.... ...
then I stop exchange Microsft Exchange Information Store service, then I
delete all files of  folder MDBDATA which is place at
.....exchsrvr\mdbdata\....
then I copy my old files (pup.edb and priv.edb) to above mdbdata folder ...
then I go to ...\exchsrvr\bin ... and type (isinteg -patch) .. it
successfuly done .. then I want 2 start above exchange service .. but it
propmt me following error :
"Windows could not start the Microsft Exchange Information Store on local
computer. For more information, review the system event log. if this is
non-microsoft service, contact ther service vendor, and refer to
service-specific error code 1276"

Note: Before above working I did backup my fresh and working exchange
MDBDATA folder. When I place it on original place the above service start
without any error.

Now tell me what I can do next.....
Awaited .....

What does the system event log show?  Also, do you have your original
dir.edb?  If not, after you get the priv and pub mounted, you will have
to use the consistency adjuster to fix the fresh dir.edb so you can see
account entries for all of the mailboxes contained in the priv.edb.  Its
been a while since I've worked extensively with 5.5, but I think there
are some good documents on this on Microsofts website.
