Release date for .NET 2.0Paul Aspinall wrote:

Any earlier date will surprise me and will show they've cut out a lot at the last minute to get shorter beta/rc periods. To me, I'd rather see a november RTM and full feature set than end of september and a rushed / cut feature set, as every bug / design flaw left in the IDE / framework is hardly/never patched. I recently upgraded from VS 2002 to VS2003, expected 'annoyances' to have been rectified but weren't. I'm still not sure it was worth the 6 weeks of re-compiling & testing. (Probably should note that it took me a while because had to also upgrade the 3rd party DevExpress XtraGrid. But then again if microsoft had taken a little bit more time with the original VS Datagrid and provided what you would expect to be basic flexibility & funcitionality, I wouldn't have needed a 3rd party grid in the first place). That's my gripe for the day.
